The Drexel Democrats were established in April 2004 by our founder Brad Levinson. Brad Levinson graduated from Drexel University in 2005 with a degree in Psychology. He currently is in his last year at Georgetown University where he is finishing up his masters in Politics and Media. The Drexel Democrats were initially founded in reaction to what was going on in our country and in anticipation of the 2004 Presidential Election. The Drexel Democrats are a registered and recognized Drexel University Organization.
The purpose of the Drexel Democrats is to organize and mobilize support on campus for various local, state, and national Democratic Party candidates who are running for political office. Furthermore, the goal of this organization is to raise awareness of issues and ideas consistent with the philosophy of the Democratic Party.
Whereas most college organizations are top-down and politics-as-usual, the Drexel Democrats take pride in being purely grassroots. The issues and focuses are determined by the organization itself, in response to what is happening in our country. We’re not afraid to take a stance, and we focus on ideas and action rather than partisan rhetoric.
